Billy Howard’s ‘Epitaphs for the Living’ (exhibit)
Riveting images of people living with HIV/AIDS in the 1980s, taken by Atlanta-area photographer Billy Howard, comprise this exhibit (See related event on June 22: “A Conversation with Billy Howard”), which features 17 photographs, each showing a person with HIV/AIDS or their loved one, and a handwritten message from that person about living with the disease. The photographs are stark and yet moving, and the messages reveal hope and resilience. The exhibit includes letters to Howard and audio clips, which discuss the stories behind some of the photographs. Hours will vary for Sundays, holidays and summer; check http://bit.ly/emory-lib-hrs before you go. On view June 15 - Aug 31; closed July 3-4.
